Does your clothes smell old and musty? Washing your clothes with the right kind of detergent and is crucial, but so is keeping your drawers and closet fresh. If you find changing your detergent does not help, trying opening your closet and airing it for at least a couple of hours before placing your clothing back. Here are several other ways to keep your wardrobe smelling fresh.
One of the main reason why your cabinet or wardrobe smells musky is due to the moisture trapped within the wardrobe. Place activated charcoal in sachets and hang them on hangers or place them around to help absorb moisture. By keeping your closet dry, it makes it a less ideal breeding spot for pests and insects too!
Choose your favourite perfume and spritz them onto cotton balls or some tissue paper. After they have dried out, place them in your drawers and wardrobe. Not only will your wardrobe smells amazing each time you open it, your clothing will be infused with the scent too!
Coffee beans are known to absorb any bad odours, but do you know they smell amazing as well? Place coffee beans in a small box with holes on the lids and place them in your closet to remove the musky smell of the closet! If you’re not a fan of the smell of coffee, we avoid skipping this method.
When the smell of old clothes is way too overpowering to be covered by other scent, try using a mixture of vodka and water instead! Mix vodka and water with a one-to-one ratio, and pour them into a spray bottle. Simply spray over areas that smell musky in your drawers, cabinets or closet to get rid of the smell.
Scented Wooden Hangers
If you have wooden hangers, infuse them with your favourite scent using essential oils! Did you know that essential oils such as lavender, tea tree, lemongrass etc are natural insect repellent? Keep insects away by infusing these scent into your wooden hanger!
